Saphukai Stud is based in the Hunter Valley in the historical picturesque country Agricultural Town of Stroud, not far from the Barrington Tops & Gloucester in the lush Karuah Valley, NSW. Our property in Stroud is named after our two young boys, Ryan & Logan, hence the property name "Rylo Park". We purchased our property in Early 2008, with the view to set it up as my dream, a small boutique hobby stud, breeding a few select special horses. Saphukai Stud was founded in "1996" with the purchase of our first Spanish colt - La Querencia Saphukai, Along with a Australian Andalusian mare in foal with foal at foot & a 1st cross mare in foal, foals all sired By Calmo 1. We were lucky enough to work & live at El Caballo Blanco, in Sydney for a few years in the late 1990's, resulting in a strong love, passion and addiction, for the breed & Baroque breeds in general. I have a strong love of the Falconero 1 bloodline and the old El Caballo Blanco bloodlines in general & the majority of our horses are descendants from the original El Caballo Blanco stallions and mares. I have had horses my whole life, of all breeds and types and got into Andalusian's by chance and I am now fully addicted. We purchased our property in early 2008 and have slowly started to set up our stud with purpose built safe fencing, a wash bay, lock up stallion stables with night & day yards, a safe foaling yard and a hay/feed shed, a round yard and lock up stables. It is constantly on the improve, with work always to be done. I believe that the Spanish Horse is the ultimate multi discipline performer. They are good all round versatile performance horses, used in many disciplines around the world, from stock work to pony club, harness ,western pleasure,show jumping,dressage,Haute Ecole,Doma Classical (Classical Equitation), Working Equitation & bull fighting. "Kind ,honest temperaments being of up most importance". Both of our P.R.E. breeding stallions are approved APTO in the 2001 & 2003 Australian open Spanish revisions by the Ministry Of Defence, Jefatura De Cria Caballar, in Spain. We are dedicated & committed to preserving the classical & rarefied antiquity of the breed, with proud sculptural beauty & natural high action and a rounded outline. We love the older,original bloodlines that came into Australia in the 1970"s, though careful in our selection to keep as strong Bocado/Terry/Carthusian/Bocao/Cartujano lines as we are able to get in Australia. Our aim is to breed horses that are true as possible to the original breed type, within the breed standard and not influenced by the styles/fads/trends that come and go, nor do we breed for a single discipline. We have a regular worming & vaccination program in place, our qualified, experienced farrier visits the stud monthly. The equine dentist annually, and a great local produce store. We have a excellent local country vet on call 24/7, who offer a large range of equine services. We have natural pasture, with over 50 inch annual coastal rainfall. All our horses have constant access to multi-vitamin and mineral supplement blocks. Nutrition being of the up-most importance and the horses are fed individually based on their nutritional requirements, both good quality hay and concentrate hard feeds. Our foals are socialised in a herd environment & well handled. Our Stud is only a hobby, hence we don't breed all our mares constantly every season. We have two beautiful Spanish P.R.E Stallions and a small handful of broodmare's and occasionally quality young stock for sale to the best of homes. All foals are registered with the AHAA ,DNA parent validated, micro chipped & stud branded, with most purebreds also Inscribed with either" P.R.E ANCCE Spain or the P.R.E Mundial USA".
